Freelance Sports Writers Needed

BVM Sports, a growing sports digital media outlet, is looking for freelance writers to contribute hyperlocal sports content for the BVM Sports website [login to view URL] for over 80 cities across North America including San Jose, Calif., Daytona Beach, Fla., Salt Lake City, Utah and Seattle, Wash. Content in these locations will be focused on subjects/teams competing at the high school (or equivalent) level and above. According to hard weekly deadlines, the Contributing Writer is responsible for: - Finding an athlete, coach or team to write about for or within 10 miles of the assigned local area - Interviewing subjects - Writing profiles and human interest stories - Gathering, writing and editing local content according to AP Style - Formatting and uploading text and photos The ideal candidate will live in close proximity to the area or have connections to where they are covering, have strong organization and communication skills, and enjoy writing. This is a work-from-home independent contractor position. Interested writers will first be assigned one article type in one location of their choosing. Upon acceptance of that article, additional articles may be assigned. Please note: articles will have a quick turnaround with a deadline of one week out from assignment. All submitted articles must be written using AP style and include a byline. They are subject to editing and fact-checking by BVM. Articles that do not fulfill the requirements will not be accepted and compensation will not be issued. Compensation will range from $20-$50 per article based on the type of article the writer is contributing.
