Bachelors Degree - English Literature
"A Bachelors Degree in English Literature can prepare you for careers in teaching, journalism, broadcasting, public relations, publishing, and technical writing. Many English majors also take a business route and go into the areas of contract and grant writing, sales and marketing, management training, or office management. Others choose to go on to pursue a degree in law, or obtain a master’s or doctoral degree in English literature and become tenured university professors.
The English language is an important tool for written and spoken communication around the world. English literature includes writings in prose and verse, usually expressing views of universal interest. The study of English literature is important for anyone who wishes to be a writer or teach the English language.
Studying English literature teaches writers to become insightful and to become analytical thinkers. Studying the structure of English literature also helps you learn the craft of writing, if writing is the field you wish to pursue when you graduate. In addition, being well-read makes you a much more intelligent person in the business world, and a command of the English language makes you a much more effective business communicator as well."
