I am currently a Finance and Operations Director for a $175 million publishing company. We have several print and web products across the country and are recognized as a leader in our industry. Over recent years however the internet has changed the face of advertising for our company as well as every other media company. Instead of waiting for the company to take advantage of recent trends, I've decided to pursue a project that has been in my thoughts for several years now.

Recently Reported Internet statistics from Jupiter Research, eMarketer, and Interactive Advertising Bureau project Internet advertising will grow to $20 billion in 2007 and $24 billion in 2008 According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau and Price Waterhouse Coopers, U.S. online advertising is growing at a rate of 30% annually. The Internet Advertising audience in the U.S. is projected to be reaching 77% of the US population. Advertising analyst project internet advertising will continue to out-pace all other advertising media including television, radio, magazines, and newspapers.

I am developing a business plan for a website that targets a market that is surprisingly overlooked. A market that is unlimited, global, and of huge interest to the consumer. The plan utilizes the benefits of the internet, captures the essence of why people advertise, and provides a component that is lacking in traditional advertising.

I've discussed my idea with a number of successful people who have been in the advertising, publishing, and or Internet business for many years. I have only received favorable responses. I've been told that the idea has the potential of [url removed, login to view] as well as other Nationally well know sites. I've talked to consumers and potential advertisers about my idea, and again the responses have been very favorable. In fact, I have yet to hear anyone suggest that the idea was not good.

My problem - The industry is changing rapidly and the time to launch this product is now. Sooner or later competition will encroach. The project deserves full time attention to be properly executed and I need capital to develop the site, hire the management team, and implement a promotional campaign. I've informally talked to a couple local VC sources and they both suggested that I develop an alpha site to attract investors.

I know that I can pay someone to develop an alpha site and I may have to do that. My preference however is to find someone that wants to be embedded in the project with the intention to be the primary executive developer.

Is this something that you would be interested in? If not I would like to know what you would charge to develop the site. Without going into too much detail the concept requires extensive use of data base information.
