Currently I have an application that uses a hard coded DSN ODBC datasource in windows. This works just fine. I don't want to change the name of the datasource or the data it is using. I do not want to have to hard code this DSN on each pc. I want to be able to set this programmatically. All the posts I have seen are ridiculously complicated. There should be an easy way to use the same data source that I have just set the connection to it programmatically.
Hi,
Let me see if I understand your needs correctly.
Are you looking for a Windows program, that you can run (say form the commandline), that will CREATE a new ODBC source entry , with the relevant pre-fixed DNS details?
what is the programming language you are using... if it is changeable code then you can make the changes in the CODE or else you need to modify the CR with the updated DSN name.. direclty updating will help you to find the DSN and use it..
Please ping me if you are interested with my proposal and thank you..
