I have over 35 years experience as an electronic design engineer, please see my profile for more details I have worked with those AC712 current sense devices before so I think this would be really easy for me. I agree that I think this would be the best choice for this application. The output of this sensor could be fed to some comparators to set the current thresholds and drive the RGB LED. I would not simulate this design as with my experience it really is not worth the time and trouble as I have a high confident of getting it right. Hello, One way to go whit this is using a ACS712 current sensor that is mounted direct on the 230V line. It can measure up 30A it has an output that varies liniari the voltage whit the current drawn. This output can be directly connected to a comparator that turns the different colors of the LEDs on. It uses 5V supply so a very small buck buck converterto or a 7805 to make 5V from 12V. Hi, I can do a single device to do both job for u. the sensor will be based on the magnetic field generated by the current drown by the load. u can select the current 15 or 10 by dip switch and the indicator will change color depend on your requirements. in addition i have better solution than this LED u suggest. only one thing I am not sure if the sensor could be simulated. however i cab build the prototype for u and test it and send it to you for extra $100.
