Hi, I have a FSI model of a plate that moves and rotates in an air medium. the emphesis is that it is a very thin plate. The problem is that if you solve for time step more than 0.01sec it gives an error of "negative volume" in the automesh. I need to make the solution time more reasonable and to solve for 100sec so time step has to be larger than 0.01sec. deliverables: 1. solve the model till 100seconds 2. prepare a small document explaining what you have done. ideas for that is: to define two meshes one with a coarse mesh and one a fine mesh so that the plate will be in contact only with the fine mesh. Also the fine mesh shall reside inside the coarse mesh. just a thought.

hello, As a computational engineer, I have worked on simulation of dynamic meshing problems associated to aerodynamic flutter and the "Wing Rock" instability through free to roll and forced oscilation techniques. I usually work on Ansys (Fluent+mechanical+system coupling). As per my Experience, the generation of negative cell volume is more of a re-meshing setting specific problem and less of a time step. Although time step play a role, as the motion to capture is small for smaller time step, a proper smoothing and explicit setting is a must for such problems.
