I'm an entrepreneur, film producer, and philanthropist. I need to hire multiple grant writers as independent contractors for federal, state, and local grant research and procurement. All of the projects help underserved storytellers bring their social impact visions to life.
Grant Writer/Grant Manager Responsibilities:
Research, prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to local, federal, and state foundation sources as an independent contractor.
Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
Work with finance to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.
Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
Establish/maintain rapport with company prospects, clients, and prospective donors, including but not limited to, submitting project updates (newsletters, etc.).
Understand of institutional history and programs.
Make appointments for VP Development and Grants and Research Manager with foundation officers and other prospects, arrange for onsite tours for supporters (foundation officers, foundation trustees).
Maintain current info in confidential, online files and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
Track statistics relevant to the development and provide us with written materials necessary for donor stewardship, such as education program attendance.
Work with Grants & Research Manager to provide development input for all written institutional materials, including annual reports.
Assist with other fundraising projects as requested
Knowledge & Skills:
Outstanding written/verbal communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
Strong editing skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
Verifiable experience with proposal writing and donor relations.
Knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies.
Unwavering research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
Strong contributor in team environments
Qualifications:
Must be able to reply to phone calls, emails and/or text messages within two (2) hours of contact.
Minimum of five (5) years experience as a grant writer and/or grant manager.
Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
Able to work well individually and in a team environment, maintaining multiple assignments and meeting deadlines.
Able to monitor and meet income goals.
CV, resume or link to professional portfolio or website
Three (3) professional referrals derived from successful grant projects
Proof of three (3) awarded grants
One (1) writing sample (minimum of two pages)
