Few questions: a. Does the PHP script generate an error. b. Have you tried instead of file_put_contents, adding header('Content-Type: image/png'); and then echoing out the decoded base64. Given that you are posting this via POST it is highly likely that your php script is returning a post_max_size error since base64 encoded image URLs are notoriously long strings.
