I'm a Microsoft Certified IT Consultant with years of experience setting up and configuring all sorts of Windows Systems. From your project description it sounds like you want to setup a new server and then migrate your data from one server to another. If this is the case copying the data through remote desktop is not the way to go, this will be very slow and is prone to errors on large data sets. If this option is available to you I suggest we go with a plan that looks like this. Step 1: Setup the New server Step 2: Copy the data directly from the old to the new server Step 3: Turn off the old server Step 4: Test everything is working on the new server I appreciate that this works out more expensive than your budget, however this is the kind of job that you want to make sure is done properly to make sure that you don't lose any data, Thanks Harrison
