Configure Phonegap Push Notification on iOS app built on Ionic V1

We have a working iOS app built with Ionic Version 1. We also have installed a cordova phonegap push notification plugin, and configured all necessary APNS authentication keys. However, when we send the push notification from firebase, the app doesn't receive it on a real physical phone. We want help configuring this working app on Xcode/Ionic V1 and get it to receive notification on a real iPhone device.
To start with, you must make it work with your own blank Ionic V1 project, then once you get it working on your own, we will have you access our desktop and fix it in our project.
