Hello, I would like to ask for help updating a widget made for me some time ago. [login to view URL] For those unfamiliar with yahoo widgets, I believe the code is mostly javascript and xml. [login to view URL] Apparently, it has become very popular on Yahoo, and as a result has eaten up all the bandwidth on my old server. I would like to make a few changes to the widget, and ask for advice on ideas you might have. Some changes I would like 1) smaller size (graphically) 2) is it possible to have it display other info such as composer? A separate line or the same one? 3) Apparently people have been downloading the mp3 files, is there a way I can use a .htaccess file or make them private, but allow the widget (and ideally my website flash player) to see the files? What about placing them in a private directory on the ftp server? Any way to do this? 4) A link to my site on the about button 5) Is there any way to have a widget stream music, or compress it, rather than just download it live? Im trying to think of ways to save bandwidth. Or maybe, this might be complicated, perhaps the widget could default to only download 20% of the song, until it reaches the end of the 20% then downloads more. (rather than loading a whole song, and a person not listening to it) thanks! -Aaron D.
