I'm looking for a coder to do a one-off port of a PHP/Flash chat-roulette script to Ruby on Rails...
This chat roulette script runs beautifully in PHP (using flash for the video/audio) and i'm really happy with it's functionality, however i've recently converted my whole site to Rails (on Heroku), and from what I've read it's not possible to run PHP and Rails within one web application simultaneously.
The script is 'SVC' - http://www.videosoftware.pro....
Someone asked on their forum whether it was possible to port the script to Rails, and their response was that it was definitely possible, and simply required re-writing the php functions to Ruby... [url removed, login to view]
So this is what I need done... I attach the chat roulette script (which I've paid for)... All of the PHP that needs converting is in Video [url removed, login to view]
The ultimate outcome that I need here is for this script to function on Heroku in a Rails App... that would be the end point of this task.
I'd like to offer $350 for this task. If you'd like to negotiate this, just let me know.
I know this likely will not be as simple as just re-writing the php functions, and there may be some other unexpected technical challenges that need overcoming (e.g. Heroku requires PostgreSQL, and the script uses MySQL) - but I would hope they are overcome-able. I would be happy to pay incrementally more if there were some very time consuming other challenges like these that presented themselves.
Get in touch if you're interested, it would be great to hear from you.
PS I study at Cambridge University in the UK, I'm hoping to implement this chat roulette script on a 'job interview practise' website, so students can practise job interviews with eachother online...
PPS I'm hoping to launch the site in the next couple of weeks, so timing is important.
