Build a navigation widget in WordPress - Repeat Work

We want to build a responsive, persistent navigation widget that can be accessed from anywhere on our WordPress blog in order to quickly navigate to specific content on the site (categories, tags, search results and directly to articles). The main purpose of our blog is to offer an online alternative for our bi-monthly magazine, in order to make it always available and reduce paper printing. Our readers are mostly 50 to 70 years old and get easily lost on websites that are too complex. The navigation widget will allow users to easily to jump to specific content. Upon clicking a hamburger icon in the upper left corner, next to the logo, a vertical navigation will slide down. Search will be directly accessible. Categories and Tags should expand as accordions on click. When clicking "ISSUES", a second column will slide out containing images of all the recent magazine issues. Clicking on an issue should slide out a third column that contains all the articles from that specific issue. If the hamburger is clicked from a single article page, the navigation needs to be smart enough to immediately expand all 3 columns with focus on the issue this article is in. This navigation will be built in the context of an already existing WordPress website, created with the GeneratePress theme and heavily using the Elementor page builder. You will be provided with a full copy of the Wordpress install and expected to connect to the GIT repository and actively collaborate with our lead developer. The navigation widget needs to responsively adapt for tablet and mobile devices and will make use of a custom taxonomy. We are looking for someone who can develop this using PHP and JS, not plugins. Designs provided If you perform well on this project, we will be hiring you for repeat projects as our current senior and junior developers are overwhelmed. An ideal candidate will be very very experienced with both front and back end WordPress development and familiar with best practices such as Version Control, local development, debugging...
