I am looking for a solution that would allow our clients to be able to personalize/customize stationery, invitations, business cards, stickers, etc. on our Magento shopping cart web site. We use InDesign to design the products and will have a sample design available for the customers to view on our web site. The customers will be able to change the text, font and font color. They will not be able to change the overall layout of the design. They will also be able to upload images in image placeholders that we have placed on the design.
We design everything using Adobe InDesign and want to be able to take an InDesign file and tell the web site what can be changed and what cannot be changed. For example, the text can be changed, font colors can be changed, font can be changed, but the layout cannot be changed. They will be able to upload images where we allow them to, etc. Uploaded Pictures have to be checked for a minimum resolution dependig on the final output size and the product as they are produced in offset or digital printing. When pictures are loaded, costumer has to be able to change the scaling and position within the placeholderframe.
For example, the system would end up looking something similar to this to the end customer: [login to view URL]
Go there and click on personalize.
It would not be a clone of that web site at all. It would just function in a similar way to the customer.
We do NOT want to have to create text boxes and image placeholders in a separate admin section. We want to do all design creation and text/image placeholder work within InDesign.
We will prefer an non flash solution.
I know there are services out there like InDesign Server and Adobe Scene7 that can do functions such as this. However, I believe they are very expensive and we are looking for a scaled down version that will integrate with our Magento shopping cart. Thanks

Dо you need to make automatic import in the InDesign structure or manually?
I see this work algorithm:
1. Creation needed templates with xml-structure in InDesign
2. Export the data from Magento to xml-file
3. Import the xml-file to InDesign in needed template
4. In result we have ready-to-print layout
But this work algorithm needs the manually import the xml-file to InDesign. It take 10-15 seconds (open the indd template, import the xml, save/print). But this method is not effective to import a many number of files (over a hundred), if it necessary in limited time.
