Windows 7 8 desktop Application C++ QT

NOTE: I CANNOT show source code to everyone that asks. A good developer will ask many questions to understand what I am seeking and to get some idea of what the work entails.

Project is already 75% complete.

The previous developer left the project hanging and the code is 75% completed.

Project has multiple phases, this is phase one, the proof of concept.

Need new developer to complete phase one. This phase will be a way for you to prove that you are a good programmer and can work with others.

The project itself is rather simple. We are sending ping, traceroute and other data back to a central server using CURL so we can test the health of new private/public intranet/internet circuits as we install them. This is a test, a proof of concept for a much larger set of applications.

-Must be VERY good C++ QT developer for windows 7/8.

-Must know how to convert Linux bash functions to C++ in our windows app.

Must fully understand installers and problems associated with securities.

Our app requires that any non admin user be able to install. App needs high level network access only for ping echos back. No other high level access required.

The installer is almost completed but needs one more function in order to be completed, then we can test it to make sure it works perfectly on both win7 and 8.

During install, the user should be promoted to enter a temp name/pass. The installer will use these credentials to contact the server, and if authenticated, will continue the installation, otherwise, will terminate. Once installed, upon the first run, the app should generate its new name and password then send those to the server.

-App requires the user be able to see the username for contacting Support. Previous programmer was using task manager. This needs to be a regular task bar right mouse popup to show status, running, not running and username.

-There are three parts; Controller/Monitor, win_app and a separate tool which the win_app controls.

1 Controller monitors that the win_app is always running and other management functions.

2: win_app is main app which sends occasional updates to php using CURL.

3: win_app controls a small tool (separately developed) which also gathers information and uses the same credentials.

-Must clean up the current code, removing anything no longer needed, adding one or two small functions as another team completes them. The functions will be given to you as working Linux bash which you will convert to C++ QT adding into the app.

The person who can accomplish this well WILL be given additional work and this could very well be an ongoing and long term relationship.

PLEASE, DO NOT BID unless you can show me a presence on the internet. Show me your blog, links to some forum posts, your taking part in projects with other people, etc.

The code/compiler etc, are installed on a win7 box which you would have access to using TeamViewer. All work must be done on my dev server so that I can easily have small changes done, recompile etc, as needed. I also have a win8 dev server which we can test on.

Estimated hours of work on this project would be approximately 30 to possibly 60. Pay would be in two to three milestones.

Milestone 1: Complete the project so everything is working

Milestone 2: Test, debug, make sure that all

Milestone 3: Clean up, optimize, general going over

Original requirements as follows;

POC: Prove that we can convert Linux script to C++ QT and send basic information back to an existing php application.

1: Convert Linux script to C++ QT app which installs and runs on win 7/8 with required tools such as CURL bundled.

2: Set up web page for employee to download copies of the app as needed. Employee fills out form, is shown temp credentials and downloads app.

3: Single click (exe) to install. Installer sets firewall as needed, allows icmp echos back, allows non admin user to install.

4: App begins to run non stop and restarts when PC is rebooted or restarted.
Ensure package contains everything needed without user having to download anything else, set paths, or firewall, etc.

5: Credentials file is encrypted on the system and both win_app and the tool use the same file for certs and credentials.
