Hi, I have a website built in RoR hosted on a dedicated linux server and connected to a remote MSSQL server. We use website to collect orders and to show order's status. Since MSSQL isn't always online we need website to be connected to a local db instance on linux server (MYSQL or whatever will fit our needs). Additionally we will need local db to synch with remote MSSQL so that we always have same data on both databases. We only need a subset of tables in MSSQL replicated in website db. I'm open to suggestions and proposal. Looking forward for an efficient solution, happy bidding. Dario

I would propose make accessing the local DB as the default action, synchronizing the DB from the remote DB one or more times a day. I would want to use MySQL for the local DB (unless you are looking to pay for a DB). I would try to change the DB in a way that allows the code base to be as untouched as possible, only switching the default DB and then adding the synchronizing logic. I'm thinking this should be a fairly straightforward implementation. I look forward to hearing more about your requirements, and working on this project. Colin Horner
