Electrical and Control Engineer

I have done my MS in Control Systems and have been working as an Automation Engineer for 4 years. Currently, I am attached with a public sector organization, where I work as Logic Developer and Commissioning Engineer. Other than having expertise in providing Siemens based control solutions, I like to research the field of Theoretical Control. It makes use of mathematical concepts to derive, apply and then simulate the control techniques. This framework has allowed me to not only have grip on software like MATLAB, but also on solving general research and modelling problems.

When multiple sensors are available for measuring conditions in a controlled process, a cascaded control system can often perform better than a traditional single-measurement controller. I programmed and tunned a cascaded PID control for a governor valve of a steam turbine using steam pressure and generated power as feedback. Any disturbance in such a system is first manifested as a variation of steam pressure, so it was used as an inner control loop. This disturbance then propogates to change the generated power of the turbine which was controlled in the outer loop. The inner loop was tuned to respond faster to the error signal as compared to outer and slower loop. The result was a smooth control of turbine power and robustness to the power and pressure surges. The system was implemented using Siemens S7-400 PLC based system in redundant configuration.

Control algorithm for Simulink
Raheel was the only one of the bidders who pointed out the need to verify the results, and eventually worked hard on that, going beyond the scope of the project. While the project took longer than expected, it is partly because of the client (myself), so I can freely recommend Raheel for Matlab projects.
