Games Collection

This project serves two purposes, firstly to build a generic match3 game template, from which a wide variety of games of this genre can be readily and efficiently created. Secondly, to build an engaging game based on that template to test and demonstrate its potential.

Created with the Godot engine, the techniques used are intentionally more flexible than many examples of this style of game. In particular, the common restriction of a single move at a time is relaxed. Games such as Candy Crush Saga, typically only allow the player to make a single move, and then block further interaction until the move has completed entirely, and all follow-on matches and actions are finished. Not so with the system, the user is free to initiate another move while the previous one is in flow, allowing a much wider variety of game styles. For example, time limited games such as this example are more frantic and engaging using this approach.
