Travel Guide to Temple Town of Kumbakonam
India is a country with a very rich history and tradition. This project was to make a guide to one such traditional city called Kumbakonam. This was a whole package of work, where one needed to do content writing, information design, visual interpretation, contextual design, project management etc. Visual Language is something which gives a context to the design. Thus here I have tried to break the conventional way, and attempted to make the book more visually rich just like the place is. Technical learning from the project includes grid, typography, photography, visual illustration, learning about printing, binding, softwares for design and other related things. Project management was an essential part of the project as well. The project being so huge with so many things, proper planning was very important. Thus the project brought a lot of insights about book design, guides and visual language. This project is about how to make design work more dynamic and content driven.
About Me
I am an explorer and a learner. My exploration in various sections of design like architecture, visual communication and interaction design has opened me up, to look at the world around from different angle. It also helps me participate in projects of all kinds. I thoroughly believe that designing is about process which works in the same order in all mediums. One needs to understand the need and find its best suited solution. After studying architecture for Bachelors and working for a year, I decided to explore communication design with my masters. Here I experimented with projects of various kinds like publication, exhibition, heritage communication, children education and others.
