I am a native speaker of American English with experience as a public relations writer, freelance journalist, catalog editor and PowerPoint designer. I teach writing classes at the college level and have just published a textbook on writing for undergraduate students. I hold a Ph.D. in philosophy and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing. Both of these academic programs are writing intensive. As a freelancer, I have edited academic papers and book-length manuscripts for foreign scholars and scientists. I have revised copy for a job developer's website. I have revised articles and research proposals for the U.S. Veterans Administration in such fields as psychiatry and gerontology. I also worked for an ophthalmologist for whom I edited, revised and proofread medical textbooks, conference presentations, web materials, and personal correspondence.
