“Professional Friend?? will be a site and service that attempts to facilitate a therapeutic relationship between users. The underlying premise is that everyone has problems of one type or another, and everyone has dealt with past problems in their own ways. A group of many people should, therefore, have a wide range of experience with many issues, yet no one has experience with everything. Instead of keeping this information to themselves, people should be able to share and gain knowledge from others that will be therapeutic in their own lives.
Users will be encouraged to join the site in order to both receive help and give help. In theory, everyone is equal, and anyone may provide assistance to anyone else. In reality, while there should be a diverse selection of people, members may include licensed therapists or otherwise qualified individuals. However, no one is more “valuable?? than anyone else.
Membership is free. All members will have access to a general bulletin board in which questions may be asked and answered by any other user. In addition, members will have access to another section called “the queue??, in which they can post their requests for direct assistance from another user.
A member may choose to participate only in the public “bulletin board?? section. However, they may also wish to form a therapeutic relationship with another user in which one user will have one-on-one interactions with another user. This feature of the site is something for which one pays. Those who are seeking help are to pay a small fee for dedicated time and attention from an experienced user. These one-on-one interactions are confidential. They may be recurring if the users choose to pursue their therapeutic relationship on an ongoing basis. Those offering their services will receive at least two-thirds of the fee, while the site will retain roughly one-third of the fee.
## Deliverables
I have attached a concept design document that details most of what envision for this project. There will be some minor revisions to fill out several TBD sections.
I am flexible regarding graphic design. I do a lot of design work myself, but I may not be able to do it on the web. I haven't gotten to that level detail yet. I have several ideas in mind that can be addressed at a later date.
I have a flexible time frame for completion of the project. I envision anything from 3 to possibly 6 months to get everything in place. If it comes together faster, that's fine by me.
