Summary - We would like to design a digital device which will help us to record the voice to a webpage using a hardware e.g., Raspberry Pi or Arduino module.
The business need – All smartphones have the voice recording and search-engine built speech-to-text facility. However, many times the phone is not allowed by the company to use for sensitive purpose.
Description – We would like to design a unique battery operated (open to other ideas e.g. charging) digital device which will work with a particular website (we can design a new web portal). It need not work on any other website.
1. HARDWARE FUNCTIONS
a. BIOMETRIC IDENTFICATION – The device should offer voice biometric user authentication system using an open-source system for e.g. my voice is my password system [login to view URL] .
b. USER FEEDBACK LOOP – There should be a system for interactive operational voice feedback system for example for authentication purpose the following should be used
i. Authentication is successful
ii. Authentication – not successful, please try again later
There should also have similar messages for successful please start recoding, file upload, system idle, system active etc.
c. VOICE RECORDING FUNCTION - The user should be able to dictate/record their voice using the device. The recorded voice should be stored in 2 formats
a. Voice file
b. Text file by using voice-to-text software
d. POWERING THE BATTERY - The digital device should have a switch on and off function to avoid batter drainage. There should be a way to insert battery into the device.
e. DEVICE STATUS – The device status e.g.
i. red (user authentication not done),
ii. amber (authentication done but not paired),
iii. green (paired to backend web-portal)
iv. blue (currently being used e.g. voice recording being done)
v. none (device switched off)
f. PRIORITY – We are the stage of POC of the product and market validation and therefore, the priority of the project is to
i. Idea design - The ideal design of the hardware – shape of a pen
ii. Alternate design – We are okay if the final shape of the product comes in the form of something else and not a pen for e.g., the shape of an Alexa, mouse, small box (2”x2”x2”) etc.
iii. The design, interaction and look/feel should be presentable.
iv. We can integrate the hardware and firmware to the cloud application through in-house development at a later stage.
2. SOFTWARE FUNCTION
a. CLOUD INTEGRATION - We will integrate the device with a cloud service e.g., Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, Amazon Transcribe, IBM Watson Speech to Text, or BigHand Speech Recognition.
b. PAIRING FUNCTION - There should be a unique way to pair a case subject within the web portal. An example, there are 10 case subjects within the web portal, but the user wants to use the digital device for one particular case. In this case, the user should be able to pair the device to the particular case and then unpair from that case after the use is over.
3. USER JOURNEY –
a. Power on – The user connects the device to a power source
b. Welcome message
c. User registration
d. User voice biometric authentication
e. User voice recording
f. System voice toast message on success or failure of registration, authentication, voice recording, voice file upload etc.
g. Power off
