We are looking to build a proof of concept device based on an Arduino so need someone who can program an arduino - but also someone who has knowledge of LORA and Bluetooth or able to suggest alternatives. The idea is to produce an intelligent road sign that can detect hazards such as horse riders, pedestrians and cyclists and warn motorists of the specific hazard that is around the next bend. The signs need to be placed in pairs either side of the bend. Horse Riders, pedestrians and cyclists will be carrying a bluetooth fob that the sign will detect as they pass the sign. This will activate the correct warning on the sign and communicate to the partner sign and activate that as well. We think that LORA would be a good solution for communicating between the signs For the purposes of this proof of concept we are looking to build and program a pair of arduinoos in a project box that can detect a bluetooth fob (3 different types - representing 3 different hazards) and flash a light on the box - also communicating to the partner sign via LORA and the partner sign also activating and flashing a light on the box. The light should flash 1, 2 or 3 times to indicate the type of hazard approaching (by detecting bluetooth fob 1, 2 or 3) We have much more detail available

Hi, I've done similar stuff in the past. First, I would do the FOB to act as a beacon, a cheap nRF52 will do the trick. Then instead of using and Arduino and all the overhead that it implies I would do a little PCB for another nRF52 with a better antenna which will act as the hearing system ( listening for the beacons ) I know it sounds expensive, but for a simple prototype is not at all. For simplicity I would use a LoRa module, but for mass production I would integrate it on the PCB. The same PCB design can be used to control the blinking leds and or buzzers The nRF52 that is listening for beacons will act as a master and control the LoRa module to broadcast a signal when a beacon is detected. Then the Lora Module on the second PCB will get the signal and ask to the micro controller ( also a nRF52 for the sake of budget) to blink some lights and do some other stuff if needed A nice thing about the nRF52 bluetooth is that the firmware can be updated with a smartphone, so after I sent the prototype I can still be able to update the firmware if necessary

Dear Sir or Madam, This sounds like an interesting project. I can put together a prototype for you. I have some experience using Bluetooth and Arduino. There may be easier ways to do the point-to-point connection between the signs, although I do like LORA. It's really intended to be used to connect to a gateway, but you can use it in a point-to-point mode I think. I can also give you some advice on how to industrailise this product. Arduino is quite good for prototypes, but not ideal in production designs. I use Skype, or can possibly meet in person too (I note you are in the UK). Best Regards, Ben
