I need to modify some parameters (mac address and default IP) in the configuration of my device. All goes well until reboot - the device uses cramfs and so my modifications are not saved. I need someone to show me, how can I save the parameters.

you can't modify cramfs, it is readonly file system, you can create create a new one, but after that you have to find a way to write those cramfs image back to device. So the main problem might be do you have method to that back to device. More information need about the device itself, what kind of medium that it use to store filesystem. Is it sdcard/compact flash/usb flash drive?
