There is a single course work assessment which has two aspects, described in the MDF as follows:
Application (equiv 2000 words) exploiting the technical capabilities of the latest mobile platforms
and short technical report (1000 words).
However as long as the total report and application are under 3,000 words equivalent we do not mind if you have more words in the report – up to a maximum of 2,000.
The word limits are indicative of how marks will be awarded and are not individually significant. It is often easier to write a few more words than spend time editing down to a tight word budget so there will be no penalties for word counts up to 3,000, but this is the upper limit and should not be seen as an expectation. Around 1,500 words for the report would be a reasonable target. The following sections give an indication of what is expected and the marks allocated to each aspect.
The Report:
The report needs to address the areas outlined below but it does not need to be limited to these.
Aims and Design (10%)
Outline description of the application with justification for design decisions. Functional description and specification, diagram(s) (UML) or flow chart, story board / user design sketches.
Implementation Description (10%)
How the technology was used, explain each of the main functions, link to a snapshot of its operation and a snippet of code. Make sure you reference any code and websites that you have used to help you develop your application.
