Python newbie trying to learn python and need assistance with manipulating list of lists in python.

(Cut/pasted from my attached document so apologize for the formatting issue) I’m learning Python. I’m learning by studying books/code and also working on real world apps. I’m stuck on one of my real world apps and looking for help with the code. More specifically: The requirements: The solution I’m trying to create What’s the data looks like What am I trying to accomplish General approaches Brief help on some of the code I’ve written I have spent a decent amount of time trying to figure this out a newbie with no luck but I do think the solution is fairly easy. The requirements: The solution I’m trying to create One way I’m learning Python is to try to develop a solution for a personal want. Today I use google sheets for a poor man’s personal information manager. It stores tasks, thoughts, ideas, etc… Within google sheets I am able to easily consume the data on a laptop or cell. I’m able to easily do a “Control F” to find words or sort on some columns (like date). I’m trying to “supercharge” this sheet. Using gspread I can grab the google sheets info and manipulate it in python. I have been successful in importing/exporting this info between sheets/python. Once the info is in python, the goal is to be able to manipulate in ways like: sort on date, change date (e.g., make all date = today’s date), if “buy” is in the data...sort these rows to the top of the data, etc… THEN, send the entire data set back to google sheets to be consumed.
