Android app development for Multipath TCP functionality combining LTE & WiFi

About us: We need an Android app to turn on Multipath TCP capabilities for smartphones. This will allow Android phones to roam across multiple WiFi and LTE networks without dropping connections. What we're looking for: An experienced Android developer to work on an app that provides Multipath TCP capabilities for Android mobile phones consistent with MPTCP RFC 6824. Apple has incorporated Multipath TCP functionality in their smart phones since iOS7 in 2013. They call this capability WiFi Assist. We need someone to work on an app that provides the same functionality for Android devices. Apple was able to incorporate MPTCP in the source code but this isn't an option for Android because we don't want to have to have users root their devices in order to make MPTCP available to them, hence the reason we need an app. The app must make available the combined bandwidth of the LTE and WiFi connections to all applications on the smartphone. The phone must be able to roam from network to network without dropping connections. When WiFi is available, the phone should default to that network connection. When the WiFi signal gets weak the phone automatically switches over to the LTE network - without dropping the call or data connection. This project requires experience with: - Experience building Android applications in Java (or Kotlin) using the Android SDK - Working knowledge of network routing protocols. - Knowledge of MPTCP RFC 6824 a plus.
