We store customer addresses as text:
Address, suburb, state, postcode, country.
We need to add mapping to our program, to display a street view map of the details, with a marker on the map to display the location. This needs to start with using the address and converting it to the location on the map, which may or may not be correct.
The marker then needs to be able to be moved, so that it can be positioned for the actual location, which may be a specific area on a building, for example.
I then need the lat/long information returned, to be stored against the customer record.
The editing process can be written into a dialog and then return the lat/long if that makes it easier. However the map must also be shown on the customer record with the current location tagged, even if it can't be edited.
This specific project is to write the mapping part of the process as a self-contained Delphi 7 program. You won't have access to the full product, I just need this mapping portion completed.
Once provided with a working self-contained application, we will use the source code in the main program, so it should be clean, commented code. The self-contained mapping application will not need to be maintained unless there is a change to external services/components.
The self-contained mapping application must be built in Delphi 7.
You can use components from any external party, however they must be current products that are supported and available for Delphi 7 as well as the latest version of Delphi for future migration. We will purchase our own license if required.
You can embed web sites that provide the service, as long as it achieves the above requirements and works with either the standard web view or a supported component, as per the above requirement for components. If an external site is used, we will pay ongoing fees if required, however we need to know in advance of what the costs will be, we can refuse that site if it's too expensive.

I can help you out with his. We have already implemented a exactly similar features except for moving of markers on an ERP application developed for one of our customers from UK. I can share with you the details of the architecture on a private chat if you are interested.
Like in your case we get the address from a database which we use to fetch the log lat values and then and store it against a customer record in database so that it doesn't simply query for long\lat values service. Once the long lat values are found we add a marker on the map corresponding to the long lat values.
FYI, I have developed this myself hence I am aware of the components as well as the coding that goes behind this feature. Also I have a team of delphi developers of my own if required. This can been delivered by Friday it things are finalised soon.
