Literature Research Essay - the idea of literary heroism

No plagiarism! For this essay , the goal is to reflect on the idea of literary heroism and complete a research. The story is Antigone, by Sophocles in which the tragic hero or un-hero is Antigone . Pre-writing Activity: Read your chosen text(s) and list the qualities, actions, words, etc that make the protagonist a hero/ heroine /antihero. Research For your discussion of literary heroism, you may consult general references, or encyclopedias of literary terms, such as the Oxford Dictionary of Literary Terms. Search library databases and look for any criticism on your chosen text. I will provide critical articles needed ! Essay Structure Introduction: provide definitions and your understanding of literary heroes, support with research. For your thesis, tell us your text/character and how they may conform or diverge from your definition. You may focus on one aspect of heroism. Body: present a discussion of your text and the criticism as they relate to the ideas stated in your introduction. Do not present a summary of your story or play. Include textual evidence and quotations. Use MLA in-text citations throughout your essay. Conclusion: present your own thoughts and ideas about literary heroes, where we may see them, how they have changed over the years, etc. you are free to do what you want in the conclusion.
