WebPage Enhancement - PHP/Javascript/Drag and drop

I need a 2 pane management UI for elements in a SQL table. I want this to be a reusable chuck of code. ie - I don't mind using a library or example of drag and drop with javascript already in existence.... I just want to have a overall div that I can replace a couple of functions - ie - I want to be able to provide the function that fills the elements you are able to place into a group/collection and I want to provide the function to actually place the element in the group/collection. I also would like an event/function called when the user clicks between groups/collections. Further - I would like this with AJAX calls so there is minimal reload of the page. See the attached screenshot -- items on the right are "available". Items on the left are the collections. You should be able to drag an item from the right pane onto one of the items on the left. I need to get an event/function call when the object is released on that "collection" -- Obviously, this is very similar to the way iTunes works... This is for a web based site managment of images. All of the work will be done on my live server.
