Need someone that can write small code that can query the following and check for certain settings. Input argument to script would be an IP address and snmp community. Script will then snmp query the system to see if it's windows or Linux or a network device. Script will then check system to validate certain values (e.g. ntp is set to correct IP, DNS is set to correct IP) Script must know if device is network device and run checks on network device (ie check interface description matches naming convention) This is a very simple script with the following psuedocode: 1) snmpwalk server 2) grep / filter certain values 3) confirm values such as ntp setting against static variable 4) return any mistmatches to screen or file whichever is easier This is a small project.

I have done this kind of work many times before. I have about 10 years experience in Network Management development. Is well versed in SNMP v1 , v2 and V3. If you have no preference on language , I will do this in TCL . I can do this in other scripting languages also.

Bear also in mind that while snmp is common on network devices (routers,switches, printers), you need to explicitely enable a snmp daemon on windows and linux. What do you mean with this ? "Script must know if device is network device and run checks on network device (ie check interface description matches naming convention)" The script should distinguish a device by its hostname for example and check for device specific OID's and if they deviate from known good values ?

Hello, I have done that script many times before to work with system like Zabbix and Nagios. If the host that we are querying has SNMP daemon running and has the available SNMP OID, we will get this done in a very short time. I would like to do that for you, it is very interesting task for me.

Hi, I am a network protocol developer and have worked extensively in SNMP. You can implement this in shell script with the netsnmp package installed. Or with PHP and its SNMP extensions.

Hello, This will be my first project for freelancer but don't be concerned. I have extensive experience with PERL and SNMP. My code is concise, follows standard formatting conventions, and will include plenty of comments to aid in future modifications (if necessary), I would use Net::SNMP::Util from CPAN unless another package is required.
