The Technical Writer will consult with engineering and technical staff to prepare technical and end user documentation for software.
• Additionally, you’ll develop and promote the adoption of documentation templates for system, database, and program information.
• This role will function as a primary writer—responsible for deliverables of substantial scope and complexity.
• Experience with data technologies including Python, SQL, Jupyter Notebook, Matplotlib, Pandas, GitLab and Power BI
• Must have experience to create concise end-user technical documentation for software applications and workflows
• Must have experience to develop data documentation for a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Must have experience to write business rules for new and existing data sets to translate business needs for development teams
• Write user and customer support documentation
• Collaboratively plan, create, edit, review, iterate, and publish various types of written content including technical status reports, final technical reports, technical presentations, project summaries, capability summaries, user manuals, templates, and meeting minutes
• Support a technical team with document editing for grammar, syntax, and usage, as well as to enhance style, voice, context, and effect
• Use publishing softwart to draft, edit, lay out, design, print, and distribute written and marketing material
• Coordinate input from multiple parties to iteratively develop documents under tight but reasonable schedule constraints
• Support the writing and publication of technical material for scientific conferences and refereed journals
• Explain technical information with clarity, thoroughness, and accuracy, ensuring consistency of style, wording, tone, and content
• Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents, including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
• Gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources to document new or changing product functionality.
• Write, format, edit, review, and proof procedural and technical information for technical and nontechnical users.
• Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking documentation work to meet product release dates and client deliverables.
• Maintain a library of application documentation, cataloging it for internal and/or external use.
• Publish and maintain templates for written documentation produced by others (technical specifications, RFP responses, etc.), ensuring a consistent "look and feel."
• Ensure technical materials comply with formats that are consistent with applicable policy and style guidelines
• Meet with engineers from various backgrounds to develop technical specifications
• Organize and maintain repositories of existing written content for future adaptation and use; be the keeper of templates and continually improve collaboration processes using available technology
• Draft, produce, edit, publish, and distribute material to be used for marketing, business development, user documentation, or instruction manuals
